When I have been burned, cut or had an accident that has caused some sort of pain, my 1st instinct is to try to find the source of where the pain is coming from, do what is needed to stop the pain and go through the healing process so I can get better. Yet our1st instinct when someone has hurt us is to retaliate. What can I do to make them hurt the way they hurt me? Pulls us out of character to the point that we become foolish. Retaliate 1st and recover later. What we don’t realize is that when operating in that manner we not only afflict more pain on ourselves, but cause the recovery time to become longer. Although there are different sources of pain you would think the methods would be the same. Find the source, address it’s need, heal from it and avoid it from reaccuring. But how many times do we find ourselves right back in the same place that hurt us the 1st time. Becoming addicted to the pain is not only scary but a dangerous place to be in. God did not call us to live a life status of a “Victim” Philippians 2:5 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” Having the mind of Christ means there has to be a transformation which can only be done when we our minds are being renewed by the word of God. Just like we get up everyday and put on our clothes, we have to clothe ourselves with the word of God. The word of God has to become a life style. You have to put it into action in order for it to work. Yes! We all have our moments, but it shouldn’t become our excuse. When we have the mind of Christ we no longer think and operate out of our flesh, but by his Spirit. So no matter the source of our pain our method changes from retaliate to trusting and allowing God to lead us in what we do and say.
All of my life I have always been fascinated with lighthouses and never really knew why until now. From an early age anything that I would draw it normally included a lighthouse on it. My dream was to some day collect lighthouses and to one day see a lighthouse. This year part of my dream has come true and I was able to see a lighthouse. I went to go visit my daughter in L.A. and we took the train to go see my family in Cali. My Uncle mentioned that he wanted to take us to go see the lighthouse. You should have seen me. I was like a kid in a candy shop jumping up and down with excitement. They had no idea what this meant to me and neither to what extent did I. The visions that I had when I would see the lighthouse was totally different than what actually happened, but the fact that I was getting ready to see a lighthouse in itself was priceless. Can someone say BUCKET LIST! It was everything that I could have imagined and it was breath taking. It was just like what I had seen in pictures and read about as it set on top of a hill looking over the ocean. You could see miles and miles away. The weather was perfect that day. It was as if time stood still for me and I breathed in every moment of it. Lighthouses is a tower, building or structure that was designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses and used as a navigational aid or maritime pilots at sea or on inland water ways. Lighthouses mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous shoals, reefs, safe entries to harbors, and can also assist in aerial navigation. Light comes in many forms and is one of the most important sources of energy used throughout the world and without it we wouldn’t be able to see and would be some what lost in direction when in the dark. As I look at the state in which our country is living in today we are in a very dark place. It is sad and hurtful to see and experience, but it doesn’t shock me because God said in his word 2 Timothy 3:1 that difficult times would come. In all that is going on don’t loose site of the bigger picture which is that God is coming back. We may not like the things that are happening in our world and nor are we responsible for the decisions that are being made that are out of our control, but we are responsible for our response. They say if you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything. You do have a choice and the decisions that you will make especially in the days to come are what will make a difference. Don’t allow the standards of others make you lower yours. In spite the decisions of others STAND FIRM in what you believe. Chose ye this day whom you will serve, but as for me and my house WE WILL SERVE THE LORD. I now realize why my love for lighthouses have been so great. Mathew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” If you are unable to see the light in the midst of your dark place maybe it’s because the light is you. Are you willing to be used by God to be a light that shines from within you. Shine bright like a diamond. Be the light to others who still can’t see.
I had a patient who came in yesterday and she complimented me on how pretty I looked and about my hair. She started asking me all these random questions like: Do you have a new boyfriend? No ma’am I wouldn’t really consider him new. I didn’t even 1st think to ask are you married? No ma’am I am not married. Are you getting ready to get married? No ma’am not at the moment. Well there has been something different about you lately. You’ve just been looking so pretty and very beautiful lately. I said did I not before? I’m thinking in my head I have on scrubs and my hair is in a pony tail. She said no I didn’t mean it that way. It’s just something about you. We just laughed and when she walked off my co-worker looked at me like what was that all about. Me with my hands in the air I DO NOT KNOW. I didn’t even feel that bubbly yesterday. I was tired, feeling some kinda way. By the end of the day that same patient had checked out and was inquiring again about me to another co-worker. You would have thought she was trying to find out this big secret that I was keeping. I have had several people say different things about noticing a difference and this glow about me. If they only knew what I was really feeling and am experiencing behind this smile. There are times I am struggling, battling, trying to keep my self from crying or having a nervous break down, I don’t feel like I have it all together or even feel like being strong. The only thing I can sum up is the fact that I am happy, free and at peace and in spite of what I might be experiencing and what’s inside me supersedes it all. “Greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world” 1 John 4:4 #CLEANTHISHOUSE
