For My Good

” I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing”

My grandmother was a diabetic who was also taking insulin. I was currently working with a home health agency where I helped arrange it for my agency to provide home health care. The older she got, the more I could see her dwindling. It was hard to see her that way as she was always so vibrant and full of energy. I was very concerned that she was not taking care of herself as she should.

The one thing about diabetics is that if they get any sores, cuts, or blisters, they are always harder to heal. If not taken care of, it can cause it to get infected and eventually form gangrene. My grandmother ended up with a cut on her foot that got infected and started to turn into gangrene in her toes. To keep it from spreading to the rest of her body, they wanted to amputate her toes. Of course, she did not like that, but we talked her into having it done.

My grandmother was a trooper and did not allow a cast to keep her from doing what she needed to do. I remember her getting to the point where she was walking without much assistance. She was a short little petite something and would have to look up to me, but she would always remind you who that she was the boss.

Eventually, the infection came back, and the gangrene spread to her leg. There was talk about her leg getting amputated. She was not in agreement with having her leg amputated. She could not bear them taking that from her. There was no talking her out of it. She was very prideful when it came to certain things. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away due to other complications. Though I miss her dearly, I am glad she is at peace and is no longer is suffering.

Every season requires pruning

I remember last year when I was pruning one of the bushes in my front yard. The plant was not dying at all. It was beautiful and healthy, but it was getting too big and looking a little wild. So, I needed to prune it back some.

Have you ever wondered why things have happened in your life? Why it seems like there are some people, circumstances, or situations that were so abruptly? You never saw them leaving, you never saw it coming, and you never thought it would happen the way that it did.

Just like with my grandmother and how the doctors were trying to prevent the infection from spreading, there are times where certain things are not bringing forth fruit in our lives God must cut those pieces out. God’s intent is not to hurt or harm us but so that we will be able to produce good fruit.

“And we know that all things work together for good of them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” Romans 8:28

The older I become, the more I realize that there were people and things that I connected to that caused me to produce some unhealthy fruit in my life, and to prevent it from spreading and causing more damage, God had to remove it. In my disobedience, immaturity, and toxicity caused me to mismanage, mishandled my relationships, and situations that could have been prevented or handled differently. I put people in the place where only God should have been. I can not do anything and be fruitful apart from God.

I am grateful for God’s continual love for me and that he never lets me get too far from his plan for my life. Anything that God does or allows is not to hurt or harm us but does so as apart of our making. The pruning may be hard at the moment, but it will be the very thing that will cause us to grow in the long run if we allow God to continue to work on us and through us.

Below The Surface

“Nothing changes if nothing changes”

As I was vacuuming the steps this morning, I noticed the railings.  It reminded me that I needed to repaint them.  Something said, “why not just take a damp cloth and wipe them off”.  I thought to myself why not.  As I begin to wipe them off, I was so disgusted at how much dirt was on the railings.  It was not even the fact that I needed to touch it up with paint but that it needed to be cleaned off. My youngest daughter was coming down the steps and I said do you see how clean this is?  She said, “was all of that dirt?”  I replied, “yes.  We were both surprised and disgusted. So, we know we need to clean them off more often.

I went back to finish cleaning the steps and as I was cleaning in the crease of the steps the Lord started dealing with me about how we are sometimes ok with just dealing with the surface things in our life. Dealing with the surface does not require much work nor does it allow us to walk in total freedom. We appear to look like we have it all together and we are a mess, we appear to be ok and when we are not, we appear to be happy and we are miserable or we appear to be well and we are really sick. We do not want anyone to know that we are silently suffering, and it is killing us.

“What is being manifested on the surface is the overflow of what has existed underneath”

The things that normally surface to the top are the things that have already being existing from within.  Currently we are in a pandemic and the death of yet another black man that has now started a Revolution is finally causing us to deal with what has always been. Racism at its best and a systemic system that needs to be broken. Although this did not begin with George Floyd, it has lit a fire to start the process of some necessary changes as well as healing. Our nation has appeared to be well and we have been sick for a long time. It is now starting to rear its ugly head.

For things to progress and change we can no longer just deal with the surface. What is on the surface is not the real issue and it will only bring temporary healing. We must dig deep and pull it up from the root. The system they created is working the way it is supposed to. Until a system that was never created for us changes and we get rid of the people who continue to work that same system, we will continue this same fight.

“Keep thy heart with all dilligience; for out of it are the issues of life” Proverbs 4:23

Before there can be a true change in a nation there also has to be a change within us.  This is also shinning a light on where we are individually and our need for change. The true work begins within. Then we can be more effective to the change in our homes, our community, and our nation.

My prayer is that you would allow God to deal with the root of those things that keep surfacing to the top, so that you can walk in total freedom and victory. That you would have the motivation and strength to do the work needed so that you can be free.

In the Midst of Tragedy

Photo by Isabella Mariana on Pexels.com

“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;”

1 Corinthians 1:27

I did a follow up call with someone that I was talking with earlier today. She was concerned about whether she was going to get paid or not due to school closings. I found out the information that was needed and as a courtesy, I wanted to follow up with the call. In doing so it opened up a door for conversation. I didn’t know her and she didn’t know me, but we talked as if we had known each other forever and we talked on the phone for at least 15 minutes.

Do you sometimes wonder why does it always take a tragedy for us being a little more kinder, to show more love and support, going the extra mile, for us to be doing more of what we should have been doing already?

It would probably be safe to say that sometimes we forget, we lose sight, we lose touch or allow the cares of this life to cause us to be disconnected.

Though things are so uncertain at the moment and they have changed so many times in the course of a day. As people are hurting and in turmoil they grow weary causing them to be unsure of what to do next. It is in these moments in the midst of tragedy everywhere, that I still feel that there is hope for humanity.

God knew us before we were even formed in our mothers womb and knows actually what it takes to get us back on the path that he has called for us to be. Just like the ingredients it takes to bake your favorite cake or meal, it is those ingredients of life that God uses to create us into who he has called us to be. Unfortunately, he uses a little of bit of tragedy, sorrow, along with joy, happiness, peace and discomfort, etc. and he mixes them all together to mold us an make us.

” Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am they God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will up hold thee with the right hand of my righteousness”

Isaiah 41:10

Sometimes things have to die, so that other things can live.  Dying to old habits, old mindsets, our selfish ways, so that we can birth to new habits, new ideas, create a better path that others may follow. It’s up to each one of us to be willing to make the necessary changes so that we will become better as a result of it. There is still life even in the midst of tragedy.

In this time of quarantine we should all be willing to do a self examination of the things we need to change within ourselves. What are the areas where we need to heal?  Is there someone we need to forgive? As much as we want things to go back to the way they used to be, things will never be the same again.

Yet I still have this hope that we will all be better after this, as it is causing us to change and have a different aspect on life.  Only those that remain the same are the ones that refuse to change.

Here I am Lord, let the work begin in me!

“Create in my a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit with me”

It’s Your Season To Live

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. – John‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT

At the age of 17, I stood in my parent’s bedroom with a gun to my head, contemplating whether to live or to die. It was then I heard God’s still small voice say, “I have better for you.” I debated with God, and of course, I did not win because I am still here. It was at that moment I decided to trust Him and to choose life.

There is nothing in this world that you could ever do that would stop God from loving you or remove the purpose He’s placed on your life. He died on the cross just to prove how much He loves you and wants to be in a relationship with you. The enemy will try to rob you of your future by reminding you of your past, but God wants to use you in spite of it. Jesus Christ died and rose so you can now live, so let’s choose life.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for being such a merciful God, that in spite me You still love me. I pray that as I grow more in You, I will show the same love and mercy to others. In Jesus Christ Name, I pray. Amen

When you think about the decisions you are making are you choosing life by believing God’s truth and walking in His ways?

Unlocking Your Potential

keys-to-unlock-your-potential332533380.jpg

“Jesus said unto him, If you can believe; all things are possible to him who believes”

Mark 9:23

Lack of Power Mark 9:14-29

Pos-si-bil-i-ty

  • The fact or state of being possible
  • Something that is possible
  • One that is capable or of being made real
  • Potentially for favorable or interesting results

The other day I was watching the Iron Man, which I have seen multiple times, but this time God showed me something that I had never  noticed before. This was the beginning of Iron Man and how he became who he was created to be.

He inherited a multi-million dollar company that was passed on to him after the death of his father. He was then expected to live out the legacy of his father, but not what was on the inside of him. His fathers best friend who was helping with the company had corrupted the company and even set out to kill him so that he wouldn’t find out and then inheriate the company for himself. He didn’t know until he almost lost his life.

The very thing that tried to kill you, can also be the very thing that saves your life

It was through this life experience that he was changed and he realized who he was created to be.  Against all odds and against what others wanted him to do or be, when he tapped into his potential he didn’t allow anything to hold him back to where they left him.

People will expect you to be where they dropped you, but they don’t realize that by the time they try to come through looking for you again (the old you), you will no longer be in that place where they left you. And they have the nerve to even get mad. lol

Potential known, but never realized is like a dream that never comes true

He knew that he had potential, but never realized his true potential until this life experience altered his perspective and the way he thought about things.

There were three things that I noticed that he had to do in order to accomplish his goal.

  1. hide “He that dwelleth in the secret place” Pslams 91:1  He got out of the eye of the public and went down into his secret room where he works. Sometimes we have to let go of some people and things so God can do the work within us.
  2. focused “Seek ye first the Kingdom” Matthew 6:33 He didn’t let others, but those he trusted know what he was working on. Even in the ones he told, he told them very little.  He wouldn’t stop until it was just right.  And when it didn’t work he went back to the drawing board.  It is hard to focus and complete anyone thing if our hand is in too many pots.
  3. finish it “Being confident in this one thing” Philippians 1:6  He didn’t let anyone persuade and deter him from what he knew he needed to do. He was confident, he didn’t give up when it seemed hard, her perservered and he didn’t stop until it was complete. Even upon completetion he still continued to build upon it and improve himself.

Everyone has potential, but most of the time the potential is never brought to fruition because we are looking to the wrong source or in the wrong things. Until you let go the of the expectations of other people, you will never be able to live out what God has called and created you to be.

When you can tap into what God’s plan is for your life, there is nothing that can hinder nor stop you unless you allow it to.

God will always finish what he has started, but we have participate in the process and do the work.  Somethings are never completed or have not yet come to past, not always due to the things that have happened in our life, but because we want to do our part.

“Faith without works is dead” James 2:26

Live out your full potential in God. GO AFTER IT!!!!!

The Closed Door

It so easy to thank and praise God for the open doors. As we consider those doors favor or an opportunity that we know only he could have done.

BUT……….

What about the doors that God  chooses to close?

When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.

Aleander Graham Bell

We confess it with out our mouth, but do we really and truely believe that? If we sincerely believed that, why is to so hard to move forward?

Sometimes we can’t even see the opened door because we are so focused on the door that has closed. Normally it happens suddenly, out of no where and in most cases at the time that it can’t be explained.  When we become emotionally attached, phsycially bond, spiritually connected to certain things and or people when that season has ended it is hard to close that door because we are still attached.

Times will pass and seasons will come and go

Roy Bean

Reason for closed doors:

  • Season Ends
  • God has something better
  • We won’t do it
  • We opened the wrong door
  • Not recognizing the reason for the opened door (misused the purpose)
  • Protection

Through life experiences I have realized that their were a lot of doors that needed to be closed, because it would have caused destruction in my life. There were some doors I should have left closed and because I failed to listen to God it wreaked havoc in my life. Some doors are also seasonal, but because of our attachment to the season we miss it or in most cases ignore the signs that the seasons have passed. Some doors God has to physically close for us because we won’t do it.  Those are normally the ones that close in what seems unexpectedly.

When you know the signifigance of a closed door, you wouldn’t be so distraught over the ones that do. protection + purpose = better

It makes me appreciate the open doors, but I have even more appreciation for the closed ones. It is in those that I know God is looking out for me. As painful as it can sometimes be, it was a blessing in disguise. What turns out to initally look like a bad thing, actually turned out to be good one.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”

Romans 8:28

“For I am persuaded” Romans 8

I am so grateful for all of the open doors and continued doors that he allows in my life. Favor and opportunities that had he not granted them to me I would have not made it this far.  I would diffently not be where I am today.  But, when I begin to think about all the doors God closed on my behalf I get happy.  Just think about all the doors that have been closed on your behalf that you know nothing about. I am thankful for his grace, but I am also grateful for his mercy.

Strength For The Journey

wp-1491352382256.jpg

“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”

Isaiah 40:29-31

Can I tell you how happy I am now that Spring has finally decided to arrive. I thought that it would never get here.  The only thing though is that along with that comes allergy season.  You also don’t know how to prepare yourself with what to wear from day to day, because the weather is back and forth. I guess I would rather deal with that than snow.

So, I look at the weather every morning and try to gauge what to wear.  As simple as that may sound, it isn’t. As you know mother nature has a mind of her own and will switch up at any given moment without a notice. The only thing you can do is try to be prepared and then adjust with whatever may happen.

Don’t allow the reality of where you are now, cause you to miss out on your destiny to where you are going

Today’s word:

delay

  • postpone or defer an action
  • a period of time by which something is late or delayed
  • to put off until a later time

In life’s journey it can be very fickle and can change on you in a heartbeat. It can sometimes be very long, hard, tiring and can cause a lot of delays. What I have come to realize is that God will always give you strength for the journey. I know sometimes our strength fails us, but when we can rely on his strength we are then able to make it through.

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait,                    I say, on the Lord”

Psalm 27:14

Recently, my daughters and I were on our way to Los Angeles to visit my oldest daughter. This was their very 1st time flying.  Our flight was suppose to leave at 2:45 p.m. Every 30 mins we kept getting a notification that our flight had been delayed. It is a little easier when the delay is 30 mins to an hour.  But what happens when your delays turn into days, weeks or even years?  It wasn’t until 7 hours later that we were able to board the flight, which was 10:45 p.m. This meant that we would not get into L.A. until a little after 2:00 a.m., which was 5:00 a.m. our time. As frustrating, overwhelming and unbearable that was at times, somehow while I was waiting I was reassured through my faith that if my delay is designed by God then he sitll has a purpose and a plan.

Your delays don’t mean that you won’t ever get to your destination, just that it’s going to take a little bit longer than you anticipated.

I believe our biggest frustration comes in the moments when we are delayed along the journey.  That holding and waiting period when we don’t know what to do or where to go. We know that the season has passed, but yet God hasn’t given us direction on where we need to go.

The frustration, the overwhelming feeling we get from being impatient, tiredness, discomfort, etc. can sometimes come when we don’t know how to utilize the time we have while we wait. Could it be that God  is trying to get your attention because he needs your time, that he wants to speak to you or maybe there is something he is trying to do in you and through you?

I have never had to wait that long in an airport especially when weather wasn’t involved. To come and find out our delay was all because we didn’t have a flight crew. Like what, are you serious, how can you not have a flight crew?  What we may call a delay is perfect timing for God.  Is doesn’t mean it won’t happen, just not yet.  God protects the things that he loves. Later finding out the the tornado storms that happened during the week caused other flights to be delayed, cancelled or them being at the airport for almost 3 days. It caused others to work overtime, which also caused conflict with the scheduling of other flights. Someone else always has it worst off than you.  It made me be more appreciative for where I am.  Thank God for clearing the way before I got there.

Though the journey is unpredictable and sometimes the mountains are hard to climb, his GRACE is sufficient

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficients for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.                                                Most gladly therefore will I rather flory in  my infirmitis,                                                              that the power of Christ may rest upon me”

2 Corinthians 12:9

I realize that no matter what I go through in this journey that God is always there for me and that he will never lead me astray.  It is for me to trust him even when I don’t understand, when I can’t quite see or even when I don’t know exatcly what to do. In those times that I am waiting or even delayed to not allow it overwhelm me or frustrate me because I know he is yet preparing me as he is clearing the way for me to make it safely through.

So many loose out in the journey because they get lost in the destractions that are on the side of the road.  They try to do it on their own and don’t totally trust in the God in which they say they serve.

This journey requires that we trust in a God that we can’t physically see, but yet we know that he is there. Above all, that we STAY FOCUSED on his plan for our life. Turning over our control and will to allow him to lead.

LYRICS:

If in your life you are going through

And you don’t know really what to do

Just call on Jesus, he will see you through

For he knows, Jesus he knows

How much we can bear

If there are trials that have come your way

And you are looking for a brighter day

Just call on Jesus, he will make away

For he knows,  Jesus he knows

How much we can bear

Taking The First Step

wp-1490458263221.jpg

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; and he deligheth in his way”

Psalm 37:23

Have you ever had something that you knew you should be doing, but you were so afraid to do it?  Maybe an idea, a dream or a vision and sat on it,  only years later to regret the fact that you didn’t go for it.

Sometimes making the first step is one of the hardest things to do, but is it worth the life time of regret because you never did

Today’s word:

step

noun

  • an act or movement of putting one leg in front of the other in walking or running
  • a measure or action, especially one of a series taken in order to deal with or achieve a particular thing

Just like a toddler when they start to take their first steps in learning how to walk, they fall several times, but yet they countinue to get back up.  Sometimes you will see them holding on to something until they find the courage and strength to be able to stand on their own. They practice maintaining their balance before they take another step. The excitement after they have made a couple of steps, they kept their balance and they didn’t fall. Before you know it they are now running.  Depending on the person it may take sometime and then there are some that take off running after the 1st step. The thing is they never stopped trying until they got it right.

Failure is sometimes the motivation to keep trying, while never starting creates a habit to never finish.

What are some fears?

Failure– what if it doesn’t work “My strength is made perfect in your weakness” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Doubt – can I really do this “For God has not given us the Spirit of fear” 2 Timothy 1:7

Opinion of others – will they support me “If God be for us” Romans 8:31

Many people have died with their dreams because they listened to the opinion of other people. They lacked self confidience and determination. There is strength in knowning who you are. It is the pulse that causes the soul to soar.

Our Identity In Christ

You can never finish what you never start.

Life indeed happens to us all.  It can sometimes throw us some unexpected curve balls that we never saw coming at all.  It can sometimes put a pause on somethings, but it should never stop you to the point where you stop living.

Whatever you put on hold or never started; whether it was that book, ministry, recording an album, your business, etc take the 1st step and go for it.

Don’t die with your dreams.  Live the life that God has created you to live. #LIVEOUTLOUD and #ONPURPOSE

SONG LIST

Every step of a righteous man
Is ordered by God
Ordered
Though you may not know his mind
He will reveal it all in time

The Value of Life

2015-12-30-08-47-06.jpg

They always say that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. What one person see’s value in another person may not see the same; therefore, is easily disregarded.  When I look at the things that are going on in this world it can be a little disharding and painful as there is little regard for God let alone someone’s else life.  Mark 12:31  “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these” It is hard to love your neighbor when you don’t love yourself. They say love will make you do some crazy things, but what kinda of love is it that makes you come out of character and loose yourself enough to bring harm to others.  Is it really love?  Love should not make you hurt someone else let alone kill them.  Killing isn’t always physical. God knows we do enough damage with our tongue. If you have no love for others then you don’t love yourself. 2 Timothy 4:3 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;”  I believe that we are in the end times and the saying “it may get worse before it gets better” is going to hold true, yet I still believe. You may ask how can I believe with what I see? Faith allows me to look with another set of eyes that looks past the things I can see in the natural and that gives me hope. There are so many levels and reasons why people do what they do, but it is very clear that it’s root is the value of one’s life. When you don’t love and value who you are then neither will you love and value the life of someone else. You spend you’re life trying to find it through other people who’s concept of love is already distorted. That in itself is enough to make you crazy. How can one love and value who they are if they don’t even know? The good news is your worth isn’t wrapped up in other people. Through the word of God you can find out exactly who and whose you are and the true meaning of love. 1 Peter 2:9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;” When we mirror ourselves after the image of God then and only then will we truly know who we are. You only decrease in value when you don’t know your worth. Knowing who you are is EVERYTHING!

I’m Bought With A Price

hqdefault.jpg

Declaration:
I AM redeemed from the curse of the law
Galatians 3:13 “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree”

I am redeemed bought with a price
Jesus has saved my whole life
If anybody ask you just who I am
Tell them that I am redeemed
In times of old people were bound by a law (rules and regulations) in order for their sins to be forgiven, but when Jesus died on the cross for you and I he put himself in place of the ransom and redeemed us. He freed us from the law of old and now we can go bodly before his throne of grace for ourselves. When we accept him as Lord over our lives and believe that he is we become joint heirs with him. We become his sons. It is God’s desire that none would be lost, you would think who wouldn’t serve a God like that. It is sad to say that not everyone will accept him, not everyone will believe in him and even those that call on his name don’t truly love him for their hearts are far from him. God is a gentleman and would never force himself on anyone. To the one who is thinking about it, who haven’t quite made up your mind or maybe you are in a back sliden state it’s still not to late for you to accept him, it’s still not to late for you to come back home. Why wait when you can do it now. Repeat after me:
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died on the cross for my sins and that you rose again from the dead just for me. I trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Come into my heart and be Lord over my life. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In your name, Amen.”
If you said this prayer and your heart was sincere you are now saved and or have come back home. Welcome to the kindgom.
