Today I Am Grateful…

I’ve got so much to thank God for

So many wonderful blessings and so many open doors

A brand new mercy

Along with each new day

That’s why I praise You

And for this I give You Praise

This year I wanted to do something a little different for Thanksgiving.  Kinda tired of the same old thing.  Holidays has always been important to me and now so much has changed. Holidays are sometimes a struggle to get through. My girls are away, most of my family works or are not here. Sitting at home starring at a screen TV wasn’t what I had in mind, so I decided to go and volunteer at the Salvation Army. It wasn’t the 1st time that I have volunteered nor helped feed the homeless, but this was a whole different setting for me. Normally when I have volunteered it was with other people that I knew or people that I was familiar with. Today I didn’t know anyone and wasn’t sure what to expect. I got there and introduced myself and asked how could I help. I was working in a small corner with 2 other ladies and while we were putting some snack packets together we opened up with some conversation. There were so many of us there that we were kinda running out of things to do. It had only been  30 minutes and it was another hour before the 1st group of people were going to come through. They had given us the option to leave and come back or we could stay. Honestly part of me wanted to leave, but there was something on the inside telling me that I needed to stay, so I did. I went out and sat at the table thumbing through my phone and one of the ladies came and sat at the table with me.  To be respectful I placed my phone down and we started conversating and then someone else came to join us. It was almost time to feed the 1st group and they were getting prepared to start serving, so we got up to assist them. People started to come in, most of them with smiles and a grateful heart. Some of them were a little shy, but by their second time around most of them had opened up.  We had  a little time before the next crowd was to come in and there were 2 gentlemen that were still there so we went out and mingled with them. Proverbs 18:24 ” A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother”  It was time for the next group to come in and just when we had gotten started one of the gentlemen that we had talked to had given a card to the staff, myself and the other young lady and sons that came out to talk with him. He went on to say, “I just wanted to say thank you for being my family this holiday”  It hit me like a ton of bricks because sometimes we are all that they have. I was humbled and grateful.  There were so many small moments like that throughout that day, but the other one that really stuck out to me was a young girl that came in on crutches with two younger children.  This was their 2nd time coming in that day. I noticed she was sitting at the table balling. Some of the volunteers tried to go out and talk to her, but they were so overwhelmed with what she was going through they had to step away. I stood there and I prayed, Lord give me what to say  and I waited on him to tell me when. I heard the song, “Things are going to get better, things are going to get better, don’t be discouraged by what you see, things are going to get better, better for me” I went over to her and asked her if I could give her a hug and she said yes. She broke down and then said thank you. I began to minister to her and tell my story in hopes that it might encourage her in what she was going through. When she left that day she had a smile on her face instead of tears. Sometimes we can get so bogged down with our own life that we don’t realize that someone else is going through much more than what we might be. Not only that, but some else needs to hear our story to help them persevere through what they are going through and then in turn be able to help somebody else. We have all had to go through to get to the other side.  Somethings we aren’t proud of, but it all has caused us to be where we are today. Someone is in need of your story. I am grateful that I didn’t leave that day.  I would have missed out on so many opportunities to help someone else in need.

I Know Who Am

Declaration:
I AM complete in him
Colossians 2:10 “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power”

Have you ever wanted something so bad that you felt like if you had it you wouldn’t ever have to worry about anything again? That some how it would complete you, but once you got it you still felt empty or sometimes even worse? There is a void that only God can fill. No amount of money, sex, drugs, a person or stuff can fill it. When you know who you are SOME things are only suppose to be an enhancement. We are looking to the wrong things in our need, our search and our quest to be made whole. You can search all over this world and you will never be able to find anything or anybody greater than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is only in him that we live, move, breath and have our being. Knowing who and whose you are makes all the difference. If you continue looking to other people and things to complete you, you will spend your life being broken, empty, miserable and confused. I grew up in church all of my life. Loved God with all my heart, but spent most of it looking to people and things to complete me and to tell me who I was when it has always been in Jesus Christ alone. It was all because I didn’t know who I was in him. It’s been a journey, but I know who and whose I am. It’s not to late for you.

It’s Coming Back Thursday

Isaiah 55:8

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord”

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that one of my Rose of Sharon had some buds on it to where I could even see the color that it would blossom.  I was surprised to not only see the buds, but the fact that it was doing so out  of it’s season.  Looking at it you wouldn’t think that it was ready as it was small in stature.  In most cases they would grow a little bit bigger before it would even began to blossom.  The other morning as I was leaving for church something said look, which I automatically knew what that meant.  When I looked over and I saw a flower on it that made me smile.  I began to laugh because it is September and my flowers and plants are still blooming which seems so out of it’s season.  I believe whole hardly in the direct timing and seasons of God.  Even when looking at the Rose of Sharon and judging by the season in which we are in you would think that it wasn’t ready and it that it was defentily out of it’s season,  but the fact that it is blooming was making a strong statement “It’s My Time” in spite of what it looks like around me. In life people will try to determine when you are ready or not and sometime’s it is the people who are the problem, but TRUTH God is the only one who can control your seasons and determine your time. Yes! God does use people to speak into your life and help you along the way, but not everyone is for you so you have to be careful who speaks into you and know if they are sent from God.  Your enviornment is everything.  If you aren’t planted in the right environment it can not only kill your seed, but hinder your growth.  Be careful where you are planted because every place is not fertile ground.

Don’t Count Out The Things You Can’t See

About 1 1/2 months ago I was given some Rose of Sharon’s to plant. When I counted them there was a total of 15. I thought where am I going to put all of these. So I began to look where I might be able to plant them. They needed to get planted in the ground so its roots would settle and be firm enough to survive the winter. Once I planted them I made sure to water them every other day unless we had a good rain where I didn’t have to go water them. I would continue to look and see if there were any signs of new life. As long as I saw the evidence of new leaves growing, there was a good chance that they would survive. There were two of them that shriveled up and looked dead. No evidence or sign of life at all. I thought about uprooting them, then throwing them away and planting something else in it’s place, but I kept hearing the Lord say don’t give up on them just yet. In my mind I’m like God do you not see the condition of these plants? There would be times that I would be making my rounds to water my plants and wouldn’t even bother watering those two at all. My thoughts were what is the use. I was only looking at them in their present condition. It’s amazing where our frame of mind is at times and how we treat each other and are so ready to disregard and throw each other away because we can’t see past where someone is today. God told me to start watering them again and to not give up on them just yet. So I did as He had instructed. It had rained all day yesterday and when I came home I looked around at all of my plants and was amazed how they were growing. I saw signs of new life from things that I didn’t even plant and they were beautiful. God said go look at the plant. I had to bend down in order to see it because it was much smaller than the other ones. Sure enough there were some new leaves starting to grow on it. There were signs of new life and to think I almost go rid of them. A lot of times we will give up on our dreams, our visions, our desires and each other because we can’t see any evidence of life. We are only looking at them in their present condition. There are some things God has said don’t give up on IT just yet. Though you can’t see any evidence doesn’t mean that it isn’t working, that something isn’t growing underneath the ground, that He isn’t working in the back ground scenes of your life. Faith sees when there is no evidence, because it looks beyond what it sees now and believes. #CLEANTHISHOUSE
