“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;”
1 Corinthians 1:27
I did a follow up call with someone that I was talking with earlier today. She was concerned about whether she was going to get paid or not due to school closings. I found out the information that was needed and as a courtesy, I wanted to follow up with the call. In doing so it opened up a door for conversation. I didn’t know her and she didn’t know me, but we talked as if we had known each other forever and we talked on the phone for at least 15 minutes.
Do you sometimes wonder why does it always take a tragedy for us being a little more kinder, to show more love and support, going the extra mile, for us to be doing more of what we should have been doing already?
It would probably be safe to say that sometimes we forget, we lose sight, we lose touch or allow the cares of this life to cause us to be disconnected.
Though things are so uncertain at the moment and they have changed so many times in the course of a day. As people are hurting and in turmoil they grow weary causing them to be unsure of what to do next. It is in these moments in the midst of tragedy everywhere, that I still feel that there is hope for humanity.
God knew us before we were even formed in our mothers womb and knows actually what it takes to get us back on the path that he has called for us to be. Just like the ingredients it takes to bake your favorite cake or meal, it is those ingredients of life that God uses to create us into who he has called us to be. Unfortunately, he uses a little of bit of tragedy, sorrow, along with joy, happiness, peace and discomfort, etc. and he mixes them all together to mold us an make us.
” Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am they God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will up hold thee with the right hand of my righteousness”
Isaiah 41:10
Sometimes things have to die, so that other things can live. Dying to old habits, old mindsets, our selfish ways, so that we can birth to new habits, new ideas, create a better path that others may follow. It’s up to each one of us to be willing to make the necessary changes so that we will become better as a result of it. There is still life even in the midst of tragedy.
In this time of quarantine we should all be willing to do a self examination of the things we need to change within ourselves. What are the areas where we need to heal? Is there someone we need to forgive? As much as we want things to go back to the way they used to be, things will never be the same again.
Yet I still have this hope that we will all be better after this, as it is causing us to change and have a different aspect on life. Only those that remain the same are the ones that refuse to change.
Here I am Lord, let the work begin in me!

Holy Spirit by Kim Burrell https://youtu.be/hpOjwb9w1cU
Holy Ghost, fall down on me
Let Your spirit fall down on me
Holy Ghost, fall down on me
Let Your spirit fall down on me
Create in me a new heart, oh God
And renew a right spirit within me
Cast me not away from thy presence, oh God
Take not thy Holy Spirit from me
Holy Ghost, fall down on me
Let Your spirit fall down on me
Holy Ghost, fall down on me
Let Your spirit fall down on me
Holy Spirit help me to walk right
Talk right, live right, help me to be right
I’ll never do anything without
Your leading spirit, Holy Spirit
Cast me not from thy presence, oh Lord
Take not Your spirit
Take not Your spirit from me
Take not Your spirit from me
Take not Your spirit from me

In every story book there is a beginning and there is an end. In every story there is usually more than one chapter and with every chapter one is ending and a new one begins; however, there are times when the next chapter will be continous from the previous chapter, but yet no two chapters are ever the same. There are some chapters that you may experience the joys and sorrows, the heartaches and pains. It will sometimes make you happy, laugh or cry and at times you may become angry. No matter the roller coaster of emotions you may experience through out the story if it is something that has grabbed your attention normally by the end of the story you would say, “Now that was a good book”. The only difference in the books that we read and our life story is that it’s true and we are the author of what we write. Have you ever been reading a book that the chapter (s) were so good that you had to go back and read it again? Or maybe it made you feel some kinda way, maybe you lost interest and were unable to move past where you were. We can become this way in life that we become stuck at the beginning and we are unable to make it to the end. We can tend to focus only on the bad things with in our life story that we forgot about all the good things that have happened or we have experienced that should be able to give us lasting memories, but we allow our worst days to be what’s lasting in our thoughts. God has so much more in store for us if we we could only change our frame of mind. As we continually grow and if we are wise we are able to continually build upon each one and turn our chapters around. Everyone may not know the details of our story but they will be able to see it through our lives. Though that chapter in your life has ended new life is beginning and the story continues. As you began again flip the page “WHAT’S COMING IS BETTER”
As I reflect back on this year so far with it only being the second month of the New Year what a journey it has already been. A lot of people have experienced the bliss and prosperity of what a New Year can bring while some of us have went into the New Year hurting, experiencing some type of pain, disappointment, frustration or a broken heart due to the loss of a loved one(s), a loss of a job, a relationship of some kind has ended or maybe you are fighting for the life of a child. I can guarantee that whatever you maybe experiencing that most of them were unexpected and they came out of no where. For me and I’m sure like many others of you had your goals and plans already set as you were preparing yourself for what you thought was coming next, but then the unexpected happened that caused your life to somewhat shift. I felt my life falling apart in some areas, but as I began to pull myself together I felt my life coming together in others. After the shock of it all I began to shift my focus and I refused to give up. My mind went back to when I was 17 and I felt like there was no hope for me, that my life was over. So I decided and had made up my mind that day to end my life. I went into my father’s room and stood in his bedroom with the gun that I got out of his drawer and pointed it at my head. I was ready to pull the trigger and then I heard this still small voice say, ” I have better for you.” I kept questioning this voice that kept reasoning with me to make me believe that what’s coming is better. I am now almost 42 years old and though in my life I have had to face many challenges it has been better and yet where I am today is not my final destination it is only apart of my itinerary. Joel 2: 25 says, “And I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten, the cankerworms, and the caterpillars, and the palmer worms, my great army which I sent among you.” I said all of that to say this, though the fight has been great God is greater than anything you may face and His grace is sufficient for you. You might not be able to understand it, able to explain it or even see your way out of it at this moment, but allow your faith which sees beyond where you are right now and know that what’s coming is better. Take your focus off of where you are now and invision where you want to be. It won’t always be like this God will perfect that concerning you and sooner or later it will turn in your favor, is turning around for you.
